China vacations info – useful info for Shanghai travel

This article is about the Shanghai travel and you can find some useful information in it if you are planning your Shanghai travel now.

The Old City God’s Temple :

Old City God’s Temple (Laochenghuangmiao) is a major yet relatively inactive, Taoist temple in Shanghai. It is located in the area south of Yan’an Road on the Fangbang Zhong Road.
During the Ming Dynasty, Zhangshouyue, the head of Shanghai County, dedicated a temple to the local city god. Since then, the City God’s Temple has been destroyed several times and the current temple was built in 1926. During the the war of resistance against Japanese invasion during World War II, local merchants built a new City God’s Temple in the Foreign Concession (between Lianyun Road and West Jinling Road).
That area is now a highrise residence building. The “former” temple is known as the Old City God’s Temple. The Old City God’s Temple and the enclose Yuyuan are not only famous tourist sites but also popular shopping attractions. There are boutiques, shops selling local specialties, as well as large jewelry stores, department stores and fabulous local snack restaurants to be found here. (info for your China travel and vacations)

Yuyuan Garden:

Yuyuan Garden is northeast of the Old Town. A high official had it designed in the Suzhou style as a private garden and built from 1559– 1577. Later, it was restored several times. In spite of its relatively small area of two hectares it seems considerably larger due to the skillful arrangement of 30 different landscape scenes.

The garden consists of an inner and an outer section. The inner garden, neiyuan, is in the southern part and substantially smaller than the outer one, but then, it is more impressive and romantic, if it is possible to visit it in the early moring hours in order to enjoy it alone. An excellent calligrapher displays his work in one of the halls.

the outer part is in the north and contains numberous halls, pavilions and lakes. In 1853, the Pavilion of Spring in the northeast was the seat of the Xiaodao Hui, the Society of Little Swords, tho led an uprishing against Qing rule and occupied Shanghai for 17 months. Today, weapons and coins made by the Xiaodao Hui society, among other objects, are exhibited in this hall. (info for your China vacations and tours)

A man-made, 11-m-high hill bounds the garden in the northwest. Huxin Ting teahouse is a favorite with the citizens of Shanghai. It is in the southwest, outside of the garden grounds, a two-story building resting on posts in the middle of a pond and connected to the shore by a ‘Zigzag Bridge’

The bond:

Its famous riverside avenue (formerly called the Bund), with its park-like green areas and tall buildings, is Shanghai’s landmark. Here, the visitor stands in front of magnificent buildings in the art nouveau style that once housed the clubs, banks, companies and hotels of the foreign rulers. Today, the Sailors’ Club and the managements of several state institutions have been installed there. The eastern side of Zhongshanlu installed there. The eastern side of Zgongshanlu borders directly onthe Huanpu Jiang river. A broad view of the river can be had from there. (info for your China vacations and trips)

KTV in Shanghai, China – Info for your China vacations

This article is about the KTV in Shanghai and you can find some helpful information in it if you are planning your China vacations now.

1. Haoledi KTV:

There are 6 Haoledi KTV stores in Shanghai: Xintiandi flagship store, Huaihai store, Huangpu store, Dongnan store, Meiluo store and Wujiaochang store. Here is the reservation phone number: 8002200808. The decoration of Haoledi KTV is good. What I like most is the Xintiandi flagship store. It has lots of KTV rooms. You will need to tell them the room type you want when making your reservation. They have mini, small, medium and large rooms available for the customers. There is a convenience store in it and the price is not high. You can get Heineken beer for 15 rmb in this convenience store. I don’t like the Luwei (meat or fowl stewed with soy sauce and strained before serving) dish which they like to recommend to the customers. The fruit plate is not bad and it costs only 28 rmb. This Haoledi KTV is a good place for you to hang out with friends, throw a small party or entertain your clients. The cost for the prime time is about 150 rmb for one person.

Rating(10 is the highest score): 10 for the sound system, 8 for the songs update speed, 9 for the KTV room condition.

2. Party World:

Party World has 3 stores in Shanghai: Jingan store (62490300), Huangpu store (63741111), Luwan store (63749909). What I like it most is the attractive promotions. 80% off for 07:00 – 12:00 (Monday to Thursday). 20% off for 20:00 – 24:00 (Monday to Thursday). You can get free food in the Party World KTV. It is a buffet and you can get lots of choices here. Some people like this buffet of the Party World very much. In my view, it is just ok. :-)   The Party World KTV is very popular in Shanghai and you need to make a reservation first if you wanna be here. I like to hang out with friends in Party World KTV. By the way, the cost here is not low. (about 150 rmb for one person)

Rating: 10 for the sound system, 9 for the songs update speed, 9 for the KTV room condition.

3. Langsha KTV:

They have 3 stores in Shanghai: Xuhui store, Nanjinglu store, Baoshan store. Here is the number for reservation: 63512535, 63512536. I only visited the Xuhui store once and I feel like being in a disco club in this KTV. The good thing here is the price. It is lower than Party World and Haoledi KTV. The food here is not special. (just some ordinary Chinese food)

Rating: 8.5 for the sound system, 8 for the songs update speed, 8 for the KTV room condition.

4. Padouva KTV:

It is located in the famouse Nanjinglu street. Here is the phone number for reservation: 62588889. Its decoration style is unique. (designed by some famous designers) Because of its good location, the cost here is not low. (more expensive than the Haoledi KTV) One interesting thing here is the PS2 (Sony Play Stations 2) rooms. If you are throwing a birthday party here, you can get a free birthday cake. :-)

Rating: 9 for the sound system, 9 for the songs update speed, 9.5 for the KTV room condition.

5. Shanghai Gecheng KTV:

They have 2 stores in Shanghai: Ganglu Square store and Nanjingdonglu store. Here is the phone number for reservation: 63522111. Usually you can get a big discount here but its sound system is just ok. Do not choose this place to hang out with friends if you are not a very good singer. :-)

Rating: 7 for the sound system, 8 for the songs update speed, 8 for the KTV room condition.

The subway and Maglev of Shanghai – Shanghai Airfare,China vacations info

This article is about the Maglev and subway system in Shanghai. You can find some useful information in it if you are planning your China vacations now.

After you arrive at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport (you can visit Travel2ChinaInfo Dot COM if you need more info about the Shanghai airfare and Shanghai airports), you can try the Maglev (Magnetic Levitation Train) here. This Maglev of Shanghai is built with the most advanced technology from Germany. It only takes you 7 minutes from the airport to the downtown of Shanghai (a subway station named Longyanglu). You can then take the subway from Longyanglu to other places of Shanghai. One good thing I found about this Maglev is that you can get a 20% off if you show them your airline tickets. In this case, this Maglev will only cost you 40 rmb to get to the Longyanglu subway station. (some tips: the last Magnetic train starts from the Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 5:00 PM. You can take the Line 2 airport bus if you missed this last Magnetic train. This airport bus will cost you only 19 rmb.)

The subway system of Shanghai is advanced and lots of people think it is more convinient than the taxi or bus. You can take the subway to almost all the notable places of Shanghai. Currently, there are 3 main subway lines in Shanghai: Line 1, Line 2 and Line 3 (Line Mingzhu). The Line 1 and Line 2 can reach most tourist destinations and big shopping malls of Shanghai. By taking the Shanghai subway, you don’t need a tour guide for your Shanghai travel anymore. Just a subway map of Shanghai will be enough for you. :-)

The subway of Shanghai is fast and it only takes 2 minutes from one subway station to another. You don’t need to worry about the traffic jam if you choose the subway. The cost is low: the price starts from 3 rmb and only costs 6 rmb to take you from the downtown to the suburbs of Shanghai. The subway trains here are clean and comfortable. You can watch the TV shows if you get bored in the subway train.(you can visit Travel2ChinaInfo Dot COM if you need more info about the Shanghai airfare and Beijing airfare)

Some tips for taking the subway in Shanghai:

1. Get in: There are several entrances for every subway station and you can find signs near every subway station,  which tell you how to get to the subway entrance.

2. Buy ticket: Now all the subway stations of Shanghai are using the magnetic card tickets. You can buy your tickets at the ticket vending machines in the subway stations. The Shanghai Public Traffic Card(SPTC) is another good choice. This SPTC will cost you 100 rmb, including a deposit of 30 rmb. It is a rechargable IC card and you can do the recharge at every subway station of Shanghai. This SPTC can be used in the bus, ferry, subway and taxi. It is very convinient. If you are a tourist here in Shanghai, you can choose the ticket vending machines. But for the people who need to stay in Shanghai for a while, the SPTC will be a better choice. You can save a lot of time waiting in the line to buy your tickets every time you take the subway. (you can visit Travel2ChinaInfo Dot COM if you need more info about the Shanghai airfare,China vacations and Beijing airfare)

3. Transfer: The Renmin Square(People Square) is the transfer station for Line 1, Line 2 and Line 8. The Gongshan Park station is the transfer station for Line 2, Line 3 and Line 4. You can see the subway map in the trains and this will show you where to get off or transfer to another subway line.

China vacations info – Influence of the A(H1N1) to the Beijing airfare and Shanghai airfare

This article is about the Influence of the A(H1N1) to the Beijing airfare and Shanghai airfare. You can find some useful information in it if you are planning your China vacations now.

Now the Beijing airfare and Shanghai airfare have been greatly affected by the A(H1N1) flu. You can get the air tickets at very good deals. On 05/12/2009, the airfare from Hangzhou to Beijing is only 350 rmb. This is the same as the cost of the train from Hangzhou to Beijing. Some Chinese airlines companies said that most China airfare is now pretty low, some airlines are selling their air tickets at 70% – 80% off. Comparing with the airfare of the domestic flights, the influence of the A(H1N1) flu to the international flights are even bigger.

From May,2009, many international airline companies began their big promotions on the tickets of the international airlines. The airfare is now at the lowest level in the recent 3 years. The Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd. is now offering the round trip tickets ( from Shanghai to London and from Shanghai to Manchester ) at only 5900 rmb. Before the A(H1N1) event, the lowest airfare you can get for this airline is 6500 rmb. The China Southern Airlines Comapny Limited is also selling the air tickets at a incredible low airfare. You only need to pay 3800 rmb for the flight from Shanghai to Amsterdam (the capital of Netherlands). It was 4500 rmb before the A(H1N1) event.

The Emirates Airlines is now offering 2 free nights at the Dubai’s five stars hotels, 1 free ticket to the aquarium, underwater zoo and skating rink, 1 free 96 hours’ United Arab Emirates visa if you buy a first class or business class ticket from them. This promotion is available from 05/15/2009 to 09/15/2009. (more info about the Beijing airfare at Travel2ChinaInfo Dot COM)

The China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited is now selling the round trip tickets from Shanghai to Seoul at the low airfare of only 1040 rmb, and only 3060 rmb for the round trip tickets from Hong Kong to Sydney. If you are planning your trip from Shanghai to Chicago, you can choose the American Airlines. They are selling the round trip tickets from Shanghai to Chicago at the low airfare of only 4500 rmb.

Another good news for the international travellers is that the Bunker Adjustment Factor fee is lower than it used to be now. You can save some money from this price change too.

“There are only 3 A(H1N1) cases in China now. But we are still worrying about its influence on the China airfare. Currently, the A(H1N1) is only affecting the international flights and airfare. It did not affect our domestic airfare yet. But if the A(H1N1) event get worse in China, the domestic airfare will be greatly affected for sure. This will be a disaster for the Chinese airlines companies already running in the red before the A(H1N1) event.” Guihong Zhao (professor from the Civil Aviation University of China) said.

Now China has 3 A(H1N1) cases:

(1). Mr Bao is a student of an American university. He is 30 years old. He flew from Saint Louis to Tokyo on 05/07/2009. On 05/08/2009, he caught the flight NW 029 from Tokyo to Beijing. On 05/09/2009, he flew from Beijing to Chengdu (by the flight 3U8882). This is the first A(H1N1) case in China. Now Mr Bao was recovered and discharged from hospital (on 05/17/2009).

(2). Haitao Lv is a 19 years old student in Canada. He flew to Beijing on 05/07/2009 (Canadian time) by the flight AC029. He stayed in Beijing for 3 days and visited some famous tourism attractions in Beijing, like Wangfujing, Huanleigu, Houhai bar street, Dongdan. (more info about the China vacations and Beijing airfare at Travel2ChinaInfo Dot COM)

(3). Miss Liu is a 18 years old student in an American university. She flew to Beijing on 05/11/2009. Her disease was identified as the A(H1N1) flu on 05/16/2009. This is the first A(H1N1) case of Beijing.

Beijing Flights, Shanghai Flights Info For Your China Vacations-Airlines In China

This article is about the Beijing flights, Shanghai flights and China vacations. You can find some useful information in it if you are planning your China vacations now.

There are many airline companies in China. The big three are Air China,China Eastern, China Southern. Now the best way to get your air tickets is from their web sites. Usually, you can get a good deal if you book your tickets 30-60 days in advance. You will find it impossible to get any discount if you wanna book the tickets 10 days earlier. I once bought a ticket from Beijing to Shanghai at 80% off and the main reason is that I booked my ticket 60 days in advance.

Many people have this kind of experience: when they called the Chinese travel agents to book the airline tickes, the price is usually more expensive than the price in the airline companies’ own web sites. This is because the electronic tickets have lowered the costs of sales for the airline companies and they are encouraging the customers to buy the electronic tickets from their web sites.

Here is some useful information about the electronic tickets in China:
1. How to pay?
The most convinient way is to pay by credit card(they accept visa, mastercard, discover cards, etc. I will recommend the discover card because it has no foreign transaction fees). If you are booking your tickets by phone, you can just provide your credit card information(card number, exp date, ower name, etc) to the airline companies. For the online booking, it is also very convinient and all you need to do is to follow the web sites’ instructions and input your credit card datas. If you do not have a credit card, you can choose to pay cash(get tickets from the airline companies’ offices in the downtown. Sometimes they can deliver the tickets to your home).

2. How to get the flight schedule(invoice)?
The flight schedule is acting like the invoice and it can be used to get compensations for your business travel. If you do not need this flights schedule, you can just get your boarding pass using your official ID and you don’t need to waste time in this flight schedule. If you need this for getting compensations from your company, you can get it in 4 different ways: (1). Get it from the airline company’s counters in the airport. (2). Get it from the airline company’s offices in the downtown. (3). Ask the airline company to send it to your home if you are booking your tickets through a travel agent. (4). Ask the airline company to mail it to you. In these 4 options, I think the best way is to ask them to mail it to you. You can just provide your mailing address online when you are booking your tickets and the airline company will mail the flight schedule to you in 1 or 2 weeks.(You can get more information about China vactions and Beijing flights at Travel2ChinaInfo Dot COM)

3. How to get a refund?
(1). If you did not ask them to send you the flight schedule, you can get the refund immediately(you will need to pay for the refund fees of course).  (2). If you already got the flight schedule from the airline company, you will need to return this to the ailine company. They will process your refund request after they receive your flight schedule.
